2011 was a strong year for now World-leading British wines and the Bacchus from “England’s leading wine maker”, Chapel Down is no exception! I bought 6 bottles at the recent Taste London event for Christmas and easily devoured all of them before we went back to work.
Picking up the Bronze Medal at The International Wine and Spirit Competition 2012 the Chapel Down Bacchus is world class. For me it tastes like a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc but if anything a bit less intense and acidic, which is for the best. This wine is well rounded, smooth, fruity, refreshing and is both a lovely drinking wine and a wine to go with food.
I put this in the same league as another great British wine that I love, Camel Valley Atlantic Dry and Bacchus Dry and will definitely be ordering more! If you still haven’t tried British wine (and I ask WHY NOT!) this is a perfect example of why you should. It stands up effortlessly against the finest that the rest of the world has to offer as far as I am concerned. Plus it is something that we make here that we can be exceptionally proud of. Check it out today!
“Ripe characters of melon, peach, passion fruit, gooseberry and cut grass on the nose. The palate shows tropical fruits and lime flavours with hints of nettles. Excellent weight from ripe fruit and crisp acidity make this classic English Bacchus perfect for summer.”
