Bringing the best of Dutch and Belgian Café Culture to London, Lowlander Grand Cafe is real jewel in the heart of London, near Covent Garden with a huge selection of well chosen imported beers and a handful of choice local brews.
The Lowlander Grand Café is a small and entirely independent Bar and Brasserie that I was introduced to after a conference in the local area and was immediately blown away. It thoroughly looks and feels like a true Belgian pub with a fantastic section of drinks and good pub grub that would mean you could happily while away a whole day there (although with the temptation of the drinks variety that could be a dangerous proposition).
It always impresses me when a bar stocks Meantime London Pale Ale and low and behold this bar had it on draft alongside the likes of Brugse Zot and in bottles things like Delirium Tremens, Kwak, Duvel, Chimay, Vedett, Mongozo Coconut, Floris Framboise, Kriek Boon and many more!
Lowlander Grand Café’s mantra is “That if you’re going to serve beer (and wine!) take the trouble to serve the good stuff – and with as much care and attention as the people who made it in the first place. Help folk decide what they might want to try but without the heavy sell.”
If it couldn’t get any better Lowlander Grand Café offer a “New Monday Night Beer Tasting” – Introduction to Belgian Beer, Matching Beer and Chocolate Pairing Beer with Cheese!!! Sounds like heaven! I went on a Tuesday night and wasn’t overly busy and the music was good and not too loud to overpower conversation and both drinkers as well as diners get full table service.
I love this bar and can’t wait to go back!
