Firstly, I love the look of this bottle. It really stood out in the fridge at the 2012 GBBF and I have seen it stocked in pubs like The Draft House, so I ordered it as my opening drink without fully appreciating that it was 7% – not that you could tell! The next thing that stood out was the taste, it was lovely. Refreshing, enjoyable and full of flavour, just what you want when the sun is out, your mates are around and the beer festival is in full swing.
The Odell IPA is a hoppy, American style IPA which tastes bold and fruity. It was not over bearing as you might expect from a beer of this strength and really tasted not much stronger than a 5% IPA. I’ll definitely be trying more from the Odell Brewing Co.
“We took the traditional IPA, originally shipped from England to India in the 1700?s, and made it bolder and more flavorful – American Style. We’ve added new varieties of highly aromatic American hops to create a distinctive bitterness profile and an incredible hop character.” (Odell Brewing Co)
